Privacy Policy

Rhyy shows public measurement and forecast data for the Rhine in Basel. The app and website do not collect account data or location data.

What the app uses

The apps load readings, forecasts, swim windows and community content from rhyy.ch. The swim logbook is local by default. Optional account-free device sync uploads end-to-end encrypted logbook contents. Rhyy sees random device identifiers, device type, encrypted file sizes and sync times, but not entry contents or decryption keys. You can disconnect devices, remove access and rotate the key, or delete the encrypted server copy. Local copies and previously downloaded backups remain on their devices. Short-lived QR pairing and separately saved recovery codes connect devices without an email or password. On paired Android and Wear OS devices, the random community app code uses the encrypted Google Play services Wear Data Layer.

No account and no location

You do not need to register. The app does not request GPS location and does not use advertising tracking.

Server and security logs

Each request may create technically necessary logs such as IP address, timestamp, user agent and URL on the server or upstream infrastructure. These logs are used for operation, troubleshooting and security.

Analytics

The website uses Matomo to understand usage at a high level and improve Rhyy. The native app does not include Matomo.

Rhyminder and feedback

If you voluntarily use Swim Crew, community votes, an email reminder or feedback, your information is used only for that feature. The app sends a random app code for these actions; feedback also sends the category, message, optional email and app language. The app code links anonymous actions and helps prevent spam.
